Monthly Wrap Up - February 2024

 

Hello! Welcome to a new tradition I am starting on my blog - a series of monthly wrap-ups - which aims to get an overview of all the stuff I've been doing for the past month! This includes the shows I've watched, books read, songs that were put on a loop until I've got every word of it memorized. and every events of my life that is worth mentioning!

Life

• Semester break started
• And since the day I reached home, I have been cooped up in my house doing nothing productive - unless you count binge watching and binge eating as productive, then I pronounce myself as the winner of the race.  This leads us to...

Shows I've Watched!

Young Sheldon (season 1-6)

This is a Big Bang Theory spin-off which focuses on the character Sheldon. I enjoyed watching this so much, it's hilarious and heartwarming, and all the characters are so lovable! I think I binged this in like 2 weeks. Overall, I really enjoyed it, except for season 5, where George Cooper did something...hurtful. That part hurts so bad ngl T.T. Other than that, this was a very enjoyable watch, and I will definitely rewatch the whole seasons again (and maybe skip season 5 altogether).

Big Bang Theory (season 1-3)

After completing all the released Young Sheldon episodes on Netflix, of course I need to check out the original sitcom where Sheldon is based off. I enjoyed this as well but unfortunately not as much as I enjoyed Young Sheldon. Also, I think it is worth mentioning that this show is like 75% focusing on how much sex each of the character gets. Which is annoying honestly. I only lasted until season 3. Maybe it's too early for me to judge but things started going downhill when Amy appeared (don't kill me!). I thought Sheldon was asexual? Why does the writer need to pair up everyone? All in all, I don't think I will watch the next seasons anytime soon.

Matilda: The Musical (movie)

This was such a fun watch! I love the songs, especially 'Naughty'. And Alisha Weir is an excellent cast! My favourite part of the song:Like Romeo and Juliet

That love and fate and a touch of stupidity

Would rob them of their hope of living happily

The endings are often a little bit gory

I wonder why they didn't just change their story

We're told we have to do what we're told, but surely

Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty

In the slip of a bolt, there's a tiny revolt

The seed of a war in the creak of a floorboard

A storm can begin with the flap of a wing

The tiniest mite packs the mightiest sting

Every day starts with the tick of a clock

All escapes start with the click of a lock

If you're stuck in your story and want to get out

You don't have to cry, you don't have to shout

No Hard Feelings (movie)

Ahh! This was another really enjoyable movie! It's laugh-out-loud hilarious! I've been wanting to watch this ever since it came out and finally it's released on Netflix! I don't know how else to describe this movie other than it's hilarious!

Books Read:

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd

A very surprising ending which I did not see coming. A very pleasant surprise indeed! It is also this book that made me appreciate Agatha Christie's writing! This is also my first book this year lol. On my defense, I was very busy with finals in January okay >< Starting the year with this amazing book looked like a good omen!

Anne of The Island

So good to be back on Prince Edward Island and meet Anne Shirley once again! I missed her! This was a very enjoyable read! I also did a review on this which you can check out here.

Little Weirds

A collection of short stories with very unique writing! I liked most of it except for the part where the author keeps on going on and on about how horny she is lol.

Equal Rites

Oh wow I've read 5 books in the span of 1 month! Which means I'm almost halfway through my reading goal this year - 12 books! Yeap you read that right, only 12. I'm trying to go easy on myself and set a very reachable goal for me this year. One book per month! And now I'm already 3 months ahead lol. This can only go 2 ways -  either I could read more than 12 books this year, or I procastinate and ended up having to binge read during the next sem break x)
